1978 Mercury Grand Marquis

• Five of the 18 frames are other cars — a white '64 Comet twice, a rusty Plymouth wagon and a black '50 Mercury coupe twice — so only the blue Marquis frames describe this car.
• Body and paint: the blue finish with white vinyl roof looks glossy and straight in the showroom shots, with bright chrome and full wheel covers.
• Interior: the blue leather seats show surface shine and wear on the driver's side but no splits in the photos; the woodgrain dash presents complete, and the odometer drum appears to read 03,404 — on a five-digit clock, take that as rolled until proven otherwise.
• Engine bay: photographed complete but dirty, with rust staining across the core support and aged components throughout — a working bay that needs a detail and a check-over.
• Underside: two low frames show surface rust on the frame and exhaust with the floors reading intact at this distance.

Money: at $13,900 the big Mercury photographs as a presentable survivor — fair malaise-era money if the grubby bay is only cosmetic, which a cold start and a drive will settle.
