This 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code Convertible is a rare, performance oriented Baby Bird that is an absolute blast to drive! As the early 1950s began to transition into the mid-50s, America's automakers began to realize that a key product category was missing from their product lineups. See for years, upscale European manufacturers such as Mercedes, Porsche, and Jaguar seemed to have cornered the market with regards on sporty 2-seater convertibles that were both small and sporty yet luxurious and powerful. The first major American automaker to enter the market was Chevrolet when the GM marque released its Corvette roadster in 1953. In an effort to not only match Chevrolet's Corvette but also surpass it, Ford introduced the Thunderbird on October 25, 1954. |

What the photos show
- Black paint is deep and glossy across the car, chrome bumpers and grille are bright, and the white porthole hardtop and wide whitewalls give it the full period look.
- Close-ups of the wheels, skirts and fender vents in the final four show clean paint and bright trim at panel level — no chips or dings visible at this distance.
- Interior is only glimpsed from outside as a cream bench and dash — no interior photo in the sample, so wear, carpets and dash condition can't be judged.
- One underside photo shows a clean black X-frame and floors with a detailed dual-exhaust system — a good sign, but a single frame can't cover the whole underside.
- No engine-bay photo appears in the 16 viewed, and the soft top is never shown — the car is photographed with the hardtop on or off only.
Money: at $59,995 the exterior and the one underside frame look the part, but the engine bay, interior close-up and soft top are all missing — three must-see items before paying strong Baby Bird money.
