1964 Mercury Comet Caliente

• Cream-white paint carries full period drag livery — record-holder and dealer lettering, chequered flags, B/FX class marks — and presents glossy and straight; the lettering is the car's whole character, so any buyer is buying the look as much as the car.
• Seller ruler close-ups disclose small honest wear: a crack line in the fibreglass front bumper (the bumper itself is lettered 'Caution: Fiberglass'), a stain run below one panel edge, and small nicks around the tail panel trim and lettering.
• Interior is race-simple and tidy in the one cabin shot: white seats, blue carpet, floor-shift manual and a column tach — no tears visible at that distance.
• No engine-bay photo in the 16 viewed — remarkable for a drag-themed car, since the engine is the point; can't judge what's under the scooped hood at all.
• No underside photo either (one rear lift shot is too dark and distant to read) — floors, rails and the rear suspension setup are unseen.
• Whether the livery records real history or is a tribute is a paperwork question the photos cannot answer.

Money: at $37,900 the value hinges on the story and the engine, and the photos show neither — price it as a well-presented tribute until documents and an engine photo prove otherwise.
