Legendary American Muscle- The 1969 Ford Torino Talladega is a legendary American muscle car that was specifically designed for NASCAR racing. Named after the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, this limited-production vehicle was built on the Torino Cobra Sportroof chassis. An aerodynamic body, a 6" longer nose, flush-mounted grille and redesigned rocker panels helped improve the overall performance of the Torino Talladega in competition. To fulfill NASCAR's racing requirement for street-legal production, Ford needed to deliver a limited number of Torino Talladega models for sale to the public. |

What the photos show
- Maroon '69 Torino Talladega — the door card carries the Talladega nameplate, and the aero nose, fastback shape and flush grille are all there; paint is glossy and the chrome bright in the studio set.
- The black bench interior is photographed in depth and looks tidy and original, down to the under-dash accessory gauge; the trunk carries a plaid mat and a mounted spare.
- The engine bay is photographed from four angles — but the engine in the photos is a small-block-sized Ford with a blue air cleaner, not the big-block a Talladega left the factory with; either the car has had an engine swap or it isn't what the badges say, and only the VIN's engine code settles which.
- The underside is never photographed in the 16 viewed, so the floors and torque boxes can't be judged.
Money: at $56,995 Talladega money is 428 Cobra Jet money — the photographed small-block means you verify the VIN engine code and the car's paperwork before paying a cent of the aero premium.

Ford started building the intermediate car in 1968 and initially was a more boxy car and by 1970 had moved in to a more "Coke Bottle" style with a longer hood and rounder body lines. Most of these cars were just cars to the average consumer used for commuting and most of them were the 4-door variants. There were a few that got out with a big block but not many.
